Jackfruit Festival & inauguration of Farmers Producer Company

Santhigram is happy to announce the organization of a Jackfruit Festival from July 11 to 20 to spread the message of infinite opportunities of and from jackfruit. SEED Division of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, NABARD, State Horticulture Mission, Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) are supporting the initiative. Jackfruit Promotion Council (JPC), Center for Innovation in Science & Social Action (CISSA), Jackfruit Promotion Consortium, Labor Bank, Local Self Government Institutions and Residents’ Associations are cooperating.

As part of the festival, a Jackfruit caravan with saplings of jackfruit tree to ice cream from jackfruit and a wide variety of value added products will be touring different parts of Thiruvananthapuram District during the days. The program will consist of hands on trainings in preparation of products, cooking competitions, poster exhibitions, seminars, training programs and discussions etc.

July 20 will witness a State Seminar from 10.00 am followed by Cooking competition, inauguration of Jack Fruit Processing Common Facility Center (Supported by DST-SEED, NewDelhi), PANASA Farmers Producer Company and formal launch of jackfruit value added products.

The State seminar will be blessed by Swami Guru Rethnam jnana Thapaswi (Organising Secretary, Santhigiri Ashram). At 3:00 pm the PANASA Farmer Producer Company will be inaugurated. The Hon. Minister for Agriculture Sri. V. S. Sunil Kumar has kindly consented for inauguration. Adv. M. Vincent MLA will preside.
