Program for spreading the message of the importance of leafy vegetables

Leafy vegetables are full of medicinal properties. Preparations of leafy vegetables are delicious. Yet they have been banished from our menu in the wake of modernist food habits. The ubiquitous leafy vegetables are no more to be found in our homesteads and fields. In this context Santhigram is organizing a Bhakshya Swaraj (Food Sovereignty) Campaign. The campaign will include several programs, such as exhibition of different types of leafy vegetables, cooking competition, bio-farmers meet, lecture, paying homage to late DCruz (Baby Sir), distribution of seedlings.
Anoop Chandran, cine artist, will inaugurate the bio-farmers meet at 10 a.m. K. Bahuleyan, President, Poovar Panchayat, will preside over the function. K.G.Jagadeesan, Secretary Gandhi Peace Foundation, will deliver the keynote address. Felicitations will be offered by Filma Alexander and G.S.Shinu, members, Parassala Block Panchayat, G. Valsan, School Principal and M. Navaz, PTA President. Sajeevan Kavumkara (Kannur), winner of Genetics Award from Central Ministry of Agriculture, will lead an interactive session on leafy vegetables.
N. Sakthan, Deputy Speaker, will inaugurate the function after lunch and Swami Aswathi Thirunal, Head, Ekalavya Matt, will address the audience. Felicitations will be offered by Deepthi Sunil. Asst. Manager, NABARD, Dr. Laladas, Member Secretary, State Bio-diversity Board, P Shylendran, Principal, Neyyattinkara Polytechnic and R.C. Sasidharan Nair, President, Coordination Committee, Arogya Bahakshya Swaraj.
